Nashik is unusual in that the same city serves a devout pilgrimage crowd and a wine-tasting weekend crowd, often on the same days. Trimbakeshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, sits 28 km outside the city; the vineyards are scattered in another direction entirely.
That spread is why a private car makes sense here. Temple in the morning, lunch by the vines in the afternoon, and back to Pune the same night if you want.
